Mappings of Mexico: Closing Recption October 27, 2011- Providence, Rhode Island:@ City Arts
CityArts! celebrates Hispanic Heritage month with "Building Bridges: Journeys into a Central America," an exhibit showcasing three visions of community, both local and international. Exploring community through travel to Central America, the exhibit features social documentary photography and dream-like painted sketchbooks from six local artists.
The two sets of travelogues are paired with work from ¡CityArts! youth artists who traveled through their own Southside community to create multimedia portrait responses to the travelogues.

Shadi is teaching a Design Camp at The Albany Art Room from April 18- April 22 from 9am-4pm for ages 13 and up.

This week-long course we will investigate ideas for nomadic housing, a term used to describe portable shelters. This architectural design process will begin by studying animals that have hard shells such as lobsters, sea urchins, and turtles.
The second portion of the class will focus on translating these observations into sketches, orthographic drawings and models. These foundational architectural skills will provide the students with both a solid introduction to architectural design and
finished pieces to include in their portfolio for college applications. (click here for the pdf)
